His mother died shortly after the census in 1901. 1911 census...Aged 19, he was still in Kentford with his widower father. He married in Newmarket in 1st quarter 1915 Annie Mary BRIDGE The pension card gives his widow as Annie Mary (b.27/11/1891),of Jarvis' Yard, Newmarket with a daughter Lena May (b 6/5/1915) |

Enlisted in Newmarket. The Newmarket Journal reported that Charles had no wounds and was judged to have died of shock. The 9th Suffolks were "enjoying" a quiet spell behind Ypres at St Jean-les-Ypres at the time, stirred occasionally by shelling and sniper fire. Charles was one of only three 9th Suffolks killed that week |
